About Us

Ask any local about the best Old Fashioned in Deadwood and they'll point you straight up to Elks Lodge #508 on Main Street. Perched above the Deadwood Winery inside a beautifully converted bank building, this lodge has been a gathering place where the handshakes are firm, the pours are generous, and the bartenders actually know your name.

Walk through the door and you step into something that feels genuinely earned. The bar area carries the weight of real history, not the manufactured kind sold to tourists two blocks down. Bartenders like Ingrid set the tone: welcoming, unpretentious, and skilled enough to keep a room full of strangers laughing together until they forget they had anywhere else to be. It's the kind of place where you stop in for one drink before a Hank Williams Jr. concert and end up closing the night.

With a 4.9-star rating built on real experiences, Lodge #508 earns its reputation drink by drink and conversation by conversation. Members and guests alike find something here that's hard to manufacture: a room where people actually want to be.

What We Offer

The lodge bar is the anchor, and it delivers. Bill's cocktails have earned a loyal following across the Hills, and the Old Fashioned in particular has become something of a local legend. Whether you prefer whiskey, wine, or a cold beer, the bar is stocked and the hands behind it know what they're doing.

Beyond the bar, Lodge #508 hosts member events, fraternal gatherings, and community functions that keep the Elks mission alive in the Deadwood area. The shared building with the Deadwood Winery downstairs means guests can explore both levels, making it a natural stop before concerts, casino nights, or a night out on Historic Main Street.

Membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks opens additional doors: charitable programs, national lodge access, and a brotherhood that spans more than 150 years of American civic life. Stop by during open hours and see what the lodge has to offer.

"Located above the Deadwood Winery. This Shared "converted bank" building with food 🍺/🍷 downstairs. The downstairs separate bar area is a very nice spot to grab a drink while you wait till 5pm when the Elk's opens their doors. I was told that lodge #508 opened back in 1886 & Sol Star was the 1st ER of this lodge. Spacious and overlooking Main St. & Deadwood. Only open a few days per week, from 5pm till 10. I imbibed a few libations, had a chat with the members for about an hour at which point I went to meet my lady to to watch The Deadwood Live show that starts @6pm just outside on Main St."

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
